BEFORE THEY WERE SCREAM QUEENS: MONIQUE VAN VOOREN

Born in Brussels, Belgium, Monique Van Vooren appeared in only one horror film, but what a film it was. ANDY WARHOL'S FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN (1973) was an art house/horror/sex feature that put the accent mark on outrĂ©. She was almost 50-years old when she played the role of Baroness Katrin Frankenstein, but had the sultriness of the European B&D bad girl to back it up.

Early in her film career, she made a splash as Lyra in TARZAN AND THE SHE-DEVIL (1953). Her talents were noticed and she appeared in a two-page spread in one of the multitude of men's cheap pin-up magazines that were sold in the day. The article in the March 1954 issue of GALA mentions her recent Tarzan role and her seemingly effortless conquering of Hollywood with nothing more than her looks. I find it hard to disagree.

With the ample measurements of 40-24-37, Miss Van Vooren was once quoted in an interview as saying, "Sure I have a sex life. What girl with my equipment wouldn't have?
