THE DEVIL IS HER LOVER NOW!

Described as "more silly than shocking" by the NY Times, ABBY was released on Christmas Day in 1974. The ad copy read: "Abby doesn't need a man... the Devil is her lover now!" as the main character, a marriage counselor played by Carol Speed, is possessed by Eshu, an African sex spirit. William Marshall adds some credibility as a college professor. Inspired partly by Rosemary's Baby, the AIP film was pulled from theaters after a winning lawsuit by Warner Brothers claimed that the film was a black-cast ripoff of THE EXORCIST. By that time ABBY had grossed more than $4 million.

Shown here is the lobby card set and the one-sheet poster.
